Long story short. They bailed. Miserably. There aren't a lot of things that bother me, but not doing what you say you will do is something that does. We didn't hear from anyone for a long time and we had to call them to find out they had decided not to come...and not to tell us. We had to cancel the hotel reservation...only to be told the money would be refunded within the next 30 days. Blah. Thanks guys.
We tossed around the idea of going anyway, and found it would be a lot more expensive than we were ready for, but two days before we were supposed to leave, we decided to go anyway. One person decided they would make the drive and go down with us, so we decided not to let everyone else spoil our trip. We finished all our homework and things that needed done by Thursday night and started getting everything packed to go. Late that night, Kyle gets a text..and then another one...and then another one. Yep. You guessed it. We were on our own again. Some friends.
It was way too late to cancel the second hotel room, so off to Vegas we went. And we had a blast! We stayed with Bryce Johnson in Mesquite and had a great trip without all of our "friends." My slogan for the week could definitely be summed up like this -"With friends like that, who needs enemies?" Lesson learned.
Here's some fun pictures from our amazing adventure!

When Kyle and I went down to California for our Honeymoon, we stopped for a night in Vegas and had one of these delicious concoctions. I never knew they were so famous, but I definitely knew I needed another one. We went back this time, and I found the recipe online. I'm going to have to try making them at home for sure.
Frozen Hot Chocolate
(recipe from Oprah)
Ingredients
- 6 pieces (1/2-ounce) chocolate , a variety of your favorites
- 2 teaspoons store-bought hot chocolate mix
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3 cups ice
- Whipped cream
- Chocolate shavings
Directions
Chop
the chocolate into small pieces. Place it in the top of a double boiler
over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot
chocolate mix and sugar. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat
and slowly add ½ cup of milk until smooth. Cool to room temperature.
In a blender, place the remaining cup of milk, the room-temperature chocolate mixture and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings
