Dad planned us an awesome family vacation. Fall Break - and it was definitely needed. We took off on a late-night 5 1/2 hour drive down to Bryce Canyon and met up with the family.
The next morning we started off on our slot-exploring adventure. 25 miles down a dirt road (er..trail) later, I was glad we were in the truck and not the car. We arrived in the middle of nowhere...and there were other people around. Crazy how they all ended up here. After a few minutes of walking out into the nothingness dessert, we came up to an almost dried mud hole with an opening above it, and the climb began. We spent the next four hours in two slot canyons (peekabo and spooky, lovingly called pewkaboo and spewky after my mother's slip-of-the-tongue). The walls are about 4 feet apart in some places and 8 inches apart in others, meaning you had to squeeze your way through the walls. It was a blast! We saw all kinds of creatures and ran into a snake and lizards big and small.
After we made it back to the truck and dumped some large sandpiles from our shoes, we headed back to the hotel for a nice relaxer in the hot tub and movie night.
Saturday we were up an at it again, but a little more calm this time as we drove around the beautiful scenery in Bryce Canyon National Park. We took a hike down into some of the hoodoo formations and took loads of pictures! There were some ravens that landed nearby that ate bread out of our hands and deer that were munching greens on the side of the road.

We had a great vacation. Such an adventure, and we're already excited to go back soon.
